Apparently, these non-decarboxylated cannabinoids bind to the virus\u2019s spike proteins. Consequently, they block a key mechanism used by the SARS virus to penetrate human cells and spread the infection. <\/p>\n
\nAs reported in Forbes magazine, lead researcher van Breemen said: \u201cThese cannabinoid acids are abundant in industrial hemp and in many cannabis extracts. They are not controlled substances like THC, the psychoactive component of marijuana, and have a good safety profile in humans.\u201d He explained that CBD-A and CBG-A \u201cproved equally effective against SARS-CoV-2 variants. “This includes the B.1.1.7 variant, which was first detected in the United Kingdom, and the B.1.351 variant, which was first detected in South Africa.” <\/p>\n
