In fact, cannabigerol (CBG) interacts with our body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) in a completely different way than cannabidiol (CBD)—which comes from the same industrial hemp plant—But how exactly does this work, and what effects can you expect from CBG oil?
Find out what scientific research has discovered about it so far:

What is Cannabigerol (CBG) from CBG oil?
Like cannabidiol (CBD), cannabigerol (CBG) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid derived from industrial hemp.
Very important, we might add. Considering that CBG is the precursor to two of the most common cannabinoids found in industrial and medicinal hemp plants. This means that both CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) were once CBG molecules before they were eventually converted into other cannabinoids in the plant.
As we explained in our previous article: “What is CBG Oil? Discover the difference between CBD and CBG ”

This also means that Cannabigerol is generally present in higher concentrations in early harvested cannabis plants.
After all, most of it has already been converted to CBD or THC in plants that are ready to be harvested. This is why you will find only small amounts of the substance in the majority of available CBD products, in support of the synergistic effect. However, CBG oil can have a positive impact on our well-being, just like CBD oil. Although Cannabigerol does it differently than Cannabidiol from CBD oil…

The Effect of CBG on the ECS
CBD is known to inhibit the breakdown of our “happiness molecules,” such as anandamide and 2-AG. These cannabinoids are produced by the body and are signaling substances (neurotransmitters) that belong to our endocannabinoid system (ECS). As demonstrated by a growing body of research, this is the reason behind CBD’s effectiveness in the body. Since CBD can help restore balance to your hormonal system, it gives your body the opportunity to heal more effectively. It is also the main reason behind CBD’s rejuvenating effects, for example.
Although CBG seems to have another interaction with the endocannabinoid system.

The Relaxing Effects of CBG
While CBD focuses on delaying the breakdown of 2-AG and anandamide, CBG oil, on the other hand, inhibits the breakdown of GABA. This is an amino acid that we produce naturally and is primarily responsible for neutralizing certain stimuli in the brain. Consequently, GABA helps regulate motor function, vision, and a range of emotional responses, such as stress and anxiety.

This relaxation caused by CBG and GABA is mostly physical, at first. Considering that it helps to reduce muscle tension and generally helps to reduce extreme nerve activity, it is likely to lead to a feeling of rest and relaxation in the body.

Although according to research, CBG is also able to help regulate the stress response to combat or flight stress, which the human body naturally activates in stressful situations. However, in some cases the body activates this stress unnecessarily – potentially causing chronic stress and anxiety disorders. Fortunately, Cannabigerol is able to upregulate the α2-adrenergic receptor, reducing the release of the neurotransmitter that causes norepinephrine or noradrenaline causing anxiety. In other words, CBG oil could calm the body and mind by its unique effect on these ECS receptors.

The Effects of CBG Oil on the Body
In addition, there are several other properties of cannabigerol that are currently being studied by scientists. For example, some studies suggest that this cannabinoid may have pain-relieving properties. This may be related to the muscle-relaxing and nerve-calming effects of CBG’s interaction with the receptors we explained above. However, the substance’s anti-inflammatory properties may also play a role. Other studies indicate that CBG has strong anti-inflammatory properties, which could potentially prevent oxidative stress. This is also demonstrated in another study, which focused primarily on the potential anti-inflammatory properties of CBG in the digestive system. It shows promising results for combating Crohn’s disease.

In addition, CBG also appears to have neuroprotective properties. For example, it offers promising potential for delaying the onset and development of Huntington’s disease. Although we should note that these are preliminary results based on mice. Therefore, there is absolutely no guarantee that CBG oil can help with Huntington’s disease. But it certainly won’t hurt!

Other Potential Benefits of CBG
And if you thought the potential benefits of CBG ended there, you’re in for a treat. Because cannabigerol can also be very beneficial to the body, not just within it. For example, research shows that CBG may help slow down excessive cell proliferation in the skin. This means that cannabigerol could be useful in treating psoriasis and eczema and could help slow down skin aging.

In addition, we have seen studies claiming that CBG can help treat certain types of cancer. The use of CBG appeared to be particularly useful in slowing the development of skin cancer and colon cancer in various laboratory experiments. This has not yet been tested in humans and there is absolutely no guarantee that it will cure any type of cancer.

Finally, we found the antibacterial properties of CBG to be remarkable. Because according to scientific research, Cannabigerol works extremely well against bad bacteria. So well, in fact, that it could even help treat “untreatable” MRSA bacteria, if the research paper is to be believed.

Like most research on the active constituents of cannabis, the aforementioned studies are mainly performed in vitro in petri dishes, or experiments using live rats and mice at best. The above information cannot be used as medical advice and is not intended to replace medical advice. There is a need for more human research – so that this substance from industrial hemp can get the recognition it deserves.

Source: dutchnaturalhealing.com

CBG: discover how Cannabigerol works in the body The difference between CBD and CBG isn’t limited to just the single letter that sets them apart.
