CBD oil for better sleep

According to the Sleep Foundation, about 30% of people worldwide report having trouble sleeping. Either they have difficulty falling asleep or they wake up in the middle of the night. Fortunately, you don’t always need heavy medication to get a good night’s sleep. As CBD appears to help improve sleep and ultimately provide rest for those with insomnia:

Difficulty Sleeping
Before we explore the ways in which cannabidiol (CBD) helps improve sleep, it’s important to understand what actually causes insomnia. As research shows, there may be several reasons why you aren’t sleeping well—ranging from psychological causes such as anxiety and stress to physical conditions such as pain and restless leg syndrome. Although it could also be due to that last cup of coffee you drank, heartburn from something you ate, or environmental factors such as an uncomfortable bed or a snoring partner.

Obviously, taking CBD oil will not prevent your partner from snoring or make your bed more comfortable. However, while research on the benefits of CBD remains limited, preliminary data suggest that the cannabinoid derived from industrial hemp may help treat insomnia in most cases. But how exactly does it improve your sleep and which CBD product should you choose for a better and more restful sleep?

CBD for Better Sleep
First, a recent study —published in 2019—focused on the effects of CBD on sleep and anxiety. Using 25 mg of CBD per day, approximately 80% of participants reported lower anxiety, while 66% reported improved sleep thanks to the cannabinoid. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the plant’s compound in treating anxiety-related sleep disorders in most cases.

Regarding pain as a cause for insomnia, research published in 2018 proves that CBD may be a potential treatment. The Frontiers in Pharmacology review notes that there is enough evidence to support the effectiveness of CBD in the treatment of pain. Consequently, the review authors note that by reducing pain, Cannabidiol (CBD) may help improve sleep quality.

In addition, we have found evidence from 2014 that supports claims that CBD could affect the sleep cycle. By looking at the effect of CBD on Parkinson’s disease, researchers discovered the effect of cannabinoids on our sleep cycle. In conclusion that the plant’s essence improved the symptoms of REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD). A disorder in which a person performs his or her dreams and is associated with poor sleep quality and nightmares.

The Best CBD Products for Sleep
Despite this research, scientists have not yet determined which CBD product is best suited for improving sleep. However, our customers’ experiences give us a very good indication of which products in the Dutch Natural Healing line help you sleep better—and which may be better suited for daytime use. In general, the products that receive the best reviews regarding sleep are:

8% CBD Oil
Thanks to a wide variety of different cannabinoids and the richest possible terpene profile, the 8% CBD oil appears to be ideal for treating mild sleep disorders and discomfort. Especially when related to anxiety or stress, this product may be exactly what you’re looking for, according to our customers’ reviews. Premium Gold 25% CBD Oil For more severe sleep disorders related to pain and chronic illness, for example, it would be helpful to choose a more concentrated CBD product. The 25% CBD Oil “Premium Gold” is produced using a very specialized hemp extract. It is known to provide one of the most diverse profiles of cannabinoids and terpenes available on the market today. As a result, this product works wonderfully with your endocannabinoid system (ECS)—making it one of our best products for better, higher-quality sleep. CBD Patches (30x15mg)
Another product for which we’re receiving fantastic feedback regarding sleep: our new CBD Topical Patches, 30 x 15mg. Transdermal delivery (through the skin) of the cannabinoid in the CBD patches significantly increases the product’s effectiveness. This means the effects are more noticeable with these patches compared to 15 mg of oil, for example. Due to the slow release of the active ingredients, these patches provide long-lasting relief for at least 12 hours. This product may be just what you need to help you stay asleep throughout the night!

CBG Oil for Positive Dreams
Last but certainly not least on the list of CBD products for improving sleep is our CBG oil. Cannabigerol (CBG) is also known as the “precursor” to the cannabinoids THC and CBD and is known to have a relaxing effect on the body and mind. In addition, our customers report that using CBG before bed helps them fall asleep more easily and, above all, promotes positive dreams. This means that CBG oil could potentially be useful for treating nightmares! Want to learn more about this relatively new product?
